Project 20
We are a unique charity because Griffin’s Guardians reach extends throughout 17 counties in Central New York. Every child that is diagnosed with Pediatric Cancer who is treating at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital will receive assistance from Griffin’s Guardians. The Social Worker at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital sends a referral to Griffin’s Guardians for every child that has been signed by the treating physician and the family.
What is Project 20?Griffin's Guardians help families with a child with cancer by providing financial assistance through Project 20. When we receive a referral from the Social Worker at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital we make contact with the family to discuss their financial needs. We support families by helping to pay medical bills that are not covered by their insurance, house bills, transportation costs and car repairs to name a few. Each family has the capacity to receive up to $1300.00 in assistance from Griffin’s Guardians each year they are in treatment for up to 3 years.

ScholarshipsWe have found some families may need a little "extra" help beyond the $1300 due to their personal circumstances. Our Scholarship Fund allows Griffin's Guardians to provide additional financial support to 5 families up to $1300, regardless of when we last assisted them. This Recommendation/Referral will come directly from the Social Worker at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Celebration of Life/FuneralsThe loss of a child is unimaginable. Whether anticipated or unexpected, the pain that follows the death of a child is likely to feel overwhelming and endless. We provide the families with $1300 in financial assistance so can they honor and celebrate the memories of their child in a personal and meaningful way with their family and friends.
